Akamai signed an $11.6 billion, seven-year cloud deal with Anthropic on September 25, 2026, its largest deal ever, which can grow to about $20 billion.
Anthropic also gets a warrant for up to 5% of Akamai stock, plus this adds to over $500 billion in compute spending committed in under a year.
For a Claude API user, this buys more future capacity, not necessarily fewer outages like the one Claude had in March 2026.
