Python 3.10 dies in October. 3.14 is four hops away

Python 3.10 reaches end of life in October 2026, after which the Python Software Foundation ships no further security patches for the branch.

A 3.10 codebase moving to Python 3.14 crosses four releases of removals, including `distutils` in 3.12 and nineteen standard-library modules in 3.13.

Python 3.14 is supported until October 2030, which makes stopping at 3.12 or 3.13 a shorter and more expensive detour.
