NVIDIA CUDA Rust: cuda-oxide or cutile-rs, which one first?

NVIDIA's CUDA Rust has two tracks: cutile-rs runs on stable Rust 1.89 or newer, while cuda-oxide needs a pinned nightly compiler, currently nightly-2026-10-11.

Both tracks need Linux and an NVIDIA GPU with compute capability 8.0 or higher, which excludes the T4, the RTX 2080 and the V100 but includes the RTX 3060, the A10 and the L4.

NVIDIA calls the whole project an early-stage research project, so use it for experiments and not for production kernels.

A short bash preflight check, tested here on a Mac and with stubbed driver output, tells you in a second which requirement your machine misses.
